Galleries, cultural hubs and creative spaces shaping the city’s art scene.
Dubai’s art scene is no longer limited to traditional galleries or museums. It has expanded into a network of independent spaces, institutional programmes and creative districts that constantly host exhibitions, installations and cultural events.
These locations offer different ways to experience contemporary art in the city — sometimes through curated gallery shows, sometimes through experimental projects, and sometimes simply by spending time in spaces designed for creativity, conversation and exchange.
Foundry
Boulevard Crescent, Downtown Dubai
Part gallery, part cafe, part creative workspace, Foundry is one of the easiest ways to dip into Dubai’s art scene. The space regularly hosts exhibitions, talks, workshops and film screenings, while also functioning as a quiet spot to work or read.
Unlike a traditional gallery, visitors often come here to spend a few hours rather than simply view an exhibition. Check the programme before visiting, as events change throughout the year.

Alserkal Avenue
17th Street, Al Quoz
Dubai’s best-known cultural district is home to dozens of galleries, design studios, independent cinemas, cafés and creative businesses. Many of the city’s most important contemporary art exhibitions take place here throughout the year.
Even without a specific exhibition in mind, Alserkal is worth visiting for an afternoon of gallery hopping. Most venues are free to enter, making it one of the most accessible cultural destinations in Dubai.
Located inside one of DIFC’s landmark towers, this public art programme showcases exhibitions by regional and international artists in a sleek, contemporary setting. The programme changes regularly, with a strong focus on emerging talent and cultural exchange.
The exhibitions are free to visit and often feature large-scale installations that transform the space. A good stop if you’re already exploring DIFC or looking for art outside traditional gallery districts.
NIKA Project Space presents contemporary exhibitions by both emerging and established artists, often exploring themes connected to identity, technology, society and the environment.
The programme tends to be more experimental than commercial, making it an interesting stop for visitors looking beyond mainstream contemporary art and discovering new voices from the region and beyond.
RARARES focuses on contemporary art by both emerging and established artists, presenting exhibitions that range from painting and photography to immersive installations and multidisciplinary projects.
Its central location inside Gate Avenue makes it one of the easiest galleries to visit in Dubai. Exhibitions rotate regularly, so there is usually something new to discover throughout the year.
Located high above the city in DIFC’s Maze Tower, Volery Gallery showcases rotating exhibitions by internationally recognised contemporary artists working across painting, sculpture and mixed media.
The gallery’s elevated location offers a different atmosphere from Dubai’s warehouse-style art spaces and attracts collectors, art enthusiasts and visitors looking for a quieter viewing experience.
One of Dubai’s leading contemporary art institutions, Jameel Arts Centre hosts museum-quality exhibitions featuring artists from the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The striking waterfront building is an attraction in its own right.
Alongside its galleries, visitors can explore outdoor sculpture spaces, gardens and a research library. Admission is free, making it one of the city’s best cultural experiences.
